I work with GPs who know something’s off, but haven’t found the space to work out what.
Together we figure it out.
You still love seeing your patients. That part is why you’re still here.
But the job has expanded well beyond the medicine. The management, the HR, the regulation, the partner responsibilities, chairing external meetings, things that have accumulated and now sit heavily.
Or perhaps you’re earlier in your career, capable and driven, but struggling to find your footing or be heard. You’re moving fast, achieving more than you’re able to see and all you feel is the gap between where you are and where you think you should be.
The thing is, you haven’t had space to look at what’s actually going on. Not properly. Not without the next thing arriving.
That’s what we do together.
I understand your world
I know what it is to work in a system that asks more than it gives back. I know the pressure of holding clinical risk every day, the loneliness of difficult decisions, the way the gap between the doctor you want to be for your patients, and the one the system lets you be, wears at something over time.
I know what it’s like to get to the end of a day with nothing left for yourself, or the people at home.
I know the culture that says you cope, you carry on, you don’t talk about this.
I spent over 30 years in healthcare as a nurse and leader. I understand your world from the inside, not the outside. You don’t need to explain the context, or justify how you’re feeling, or present as more okay than you are. I get it.
Many GPs work in supportive teams. There are people to talk to. But talking about it and being able to change it are different things.
Maybe you cannot quite put your finger on it, or perhaps you know exactly what it is but are not quire sure what to do next. It could be that you are at a crossroads. Sometimes there is a moment that brings it into focus, sometimes it is just a quiet niggle that something is not quite right. Either way, it is worth paying attention to.
Very likely you’ve talked to colleagues, friends, family and they empathise, but they just want to fix it so you can be your old self again. But really, perhaps it is the old self that is keeping you locked in patterns and deep down you know you need to change.
You just need space and time to think more deeply and figure it out properly.
And yet, once you’ve named the problem, the volume of work doesn’t reduce. What changes things is understanding yourself well enough to know what you actually want, and being able to act from that, even when things pull the other way.
Whatever ‘it’ is, I can help you get clarity and make a plan to move forward.
Are you able to name it ?
You know improving outcomes requires a change
This means understanding what needs to change, and you know that. It sounds straightforward, right? But when you’re in the middle of it, tired, stretched, the next thing always arriving it’s one of the hardest things to do. It’s just how it is.
Truly understanding what needs to change requires you to step back, pause and examine what is going on from a systemic perspective.
That’s what I’m here for. I can help you think differently, get new insights and make change that sticks.
How it works
You already know how to do this. You notice patterns, read what’s not being said, sit with difficult things. You do it for your patients every day. The harder thing is turning that attention on yourself because you’re too close to it, and because there’s never been space.
That’s what we create together. I’ll notice things you might not; what you avoid, what keeps surfacing, what you do when something difficult comes up. I’ll name it and we’ll look at it together. It’s a reflective conversation where we’re looking for the truth of what’s actually going on.
If any of this sounds like where you are right now, get in touch for a conversation. No commitment, no obligations. Just a chance to see whether working together feels right for you.
